The Singapore Arts Festival has only about 10% of overseas patrons thus in terms of tourism benefits, there may be a small number of them that may extend their stay to enjoy a play or two but it is completely different from Chingay which is a hallmark event in which tourists actually pay to specially attend the event due to its international promotions.
Naturally there will also be an increase in revenue but mostly from locals so we are able to not be afraid of leakages. There may also be a small number increase in visitors to the various local scenic sites.
Their sponsors also include some foreign organizations thus by going through these intermediaries, we are able to attract the people who may not know our name or the event itself but with their fate in the intermediaries, they will perhaps be tempted to come and enjoy a show and thus even take a holiday to boost their knowledge and experience.
Not sure if this is right but hopefully it is!!! :):)
